{"id":146,"date":"2016-07-09T14:39:32","date_gmt":"2016-07-09T03:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/menhennitt.com.au\/wordpress\/?p=146"},"modified":"2016-07-09T14:41:06","modified_gmt":"2016-07-09T03:41:06","slug":"chow-mein","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/menhennitt.com.au\/wordpress\/2016\/07\/09\/chow-mein","title":{"rendered":"Chow Mein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>80g vermicelli noodles<\/li>\n<li>3 tbsp olive oil<\/li>\n<li>500g pork\/beef\/chicken mince<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp Chinese five spice<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp chilli powder<\/li>\n<li>1 large brown onion<\/li>\n<li>4 cloves garlic, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li>5cm piece ginger, grated<\/li>\n<li>3 long green chillies, thickly sliced<\/li>\n<li>1 Chinese cabbage (wombok) thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li>125ml chicken stock<\/li>\n<li>125ml oyster sauce<\/li>\n<li>3 tsp tamari sauce or soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>3 tsp sesame oil<\/li>\n<li>150g frozen peas<\/li>\n<li>1 handful green beans, thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li>6 green shallots, sliced diagonally<\/li>\n<li>100g bean sprouts<\/li>\n<li>Crispy vermicelli noodles, to serve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Put vermicelli in a large bowl and cover with boiling water. Set aside for 10 minute. Drain well and chop into 5cm lengths. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Meanwhile, heat 2 tbsp of the olive oil in a wok over a high heat. Add mince and cook, stirring constantly for 3-5 minutes or until browned. stir in five spice and chilli powder. Transfer to a bowl. Set aside.<\/li>\n<li>Return wok and add remaining olive oil. Add onion, garlic, ginger and chilli and stir fry for 1 minute or until fragrant.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in cabbage and hot water, then add sauces and sesame oil. Cook for 8 minutes or until just soft, then add peas, green beans and green shallots.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in softened vermicelli, bean sprouts and mince.
